Why this job is perfect for a Rotterdam student
Studying at Erasmus University (Woudestein) or living near Kralingse Bos and craving a flexible bijbaan? This Bijbaan Versmedewerker at Jumbo Supermarkten in Keizerswaard sits in the modern, energetic side of Rotterdam — easy to reach by metro and trams and close enough to student hotspots like the Markthal. It’s a great option among Rotterdam student jobs if you want short shifts, clear responsibilities and a job that fits around lectures and study weeks.

The role
As a Versmedewerker you will work in the bakery, deli or produce section. Daily tasks are hands-on and customer-facing, perfect if you enjoy working with people and like to keep things tidy and attractive. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Serving customers at the counter and answering product questions
  • Preparing and presenting fresh products (bakery, deli, or fruit & vegetables)
  • Stocking, labelling and rotation to maintain freshness and presentation
  • Keeping your workstation clean and following safety/hygiene rules

This role is easy to combine with your studies, with contracts from 0–10 hours per week and flexible scheduling. Evening and weekend shifts are possible, making it ideal for busy timetables.

Pay & practical details
Salary range: €6.80 to €18.38 per hour (based on age and applicable Dutch wage rules). Location: Rotterdam Keizerswaard (IJsselmonde). Working hours: flexibel, avond/weekend mogelijk. This position is one of the accessible part time jobs Rotterdam english-speaking students sometimes look for, but be mindful of language requirements (see below).

International friendly?
If you are looking for student jobs in Rotterdam for english speakers or jobs in Rotterdam for international students: this role includes customer contact, so Dutch is required for clear communication with customers and colleagues. Some basic English is usually helpful — many colleagues and customers speak English — but you should be comfortable with everyday Dutch in a retail environment.

Why students like this job
It’s a lively, social job where you learn practical retail skills, improve language ability, and earn steady income while studying. With flexible shifts and proximity to public transport, it’s a popular option among Rotterdam student jobs that fit around lectures and study time.
